PERSONAL: Kambing meragut rumput; rumput diragut - d rizn i luv teachin oldo itz hard werk*^____^*

"Buat ayat tentang apa yang kita bincang tadi. Saya beri lima minit". Then i waited for my students to do what was asked. "Hendak panggil nombor atau hendak 'volunteer'. As usual, the students as usual kind of had the attitude of 'wait and see'. Then Fithri said, "Saya". 'Ok...teruskan'. And he confidently gave these - "Kambing meragut rumput. Rumput diragut". The other students were like - what the heck was he doing as that was not what the lecturer wanted. "Bukan buat ayat la... Dr suruh buat ayat tentang apa yang kita belajar tadi" - someone said loudly. Well, at first, I was taken aback by Fithri's response, but then when realized that, although his interpretation was different than the rest of the class and also my own original, interpretation, it was not wrong. He correctly gave an example that reflected was taught based on the instruction - "But ayat....".
Actually, the first time I heard the sentences read, I wanted to laugh out loud, but something in my brain said...."hey, wait a minute...There's nothing wrong here. He only gave another unexpected interpretation which I always categorized as 'unsangkarable'. You never know what the response from a student will be. It was just such a hoot. Looking at Fithri's face when his classmates said "Bukanlah...".
I had to digress a bit to the topic of 'ketaksaan dan kekaburan dalam semantik'. I also had to increase the level of difficulty in discussing the topik on 'ergativiti, absolutif, nominatif, akusatif, transitiviti' because of Fithri's example. Thanx to Fithri, I cannot stop ROFL until now. Talk about giving the unsangkarable.
Well, this is just one out of many examples why i love teaching - it really reminded me of Forest Gump's 'Life is a box of chocolate. You never know what you gonna get."
