PERSONAL & HMA MORPH^^: neomorphology of contemporary malay and sms/text language

when sdr zaidi ismail uploaded the pic on sikal, i can't help breaking this into these little units...

see http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=31000788&id=1087210663&ref=mf

moto + sikal = motosikal (for complex word)
ba + sikal = basikal (for complex word)
lalu + an + sikal = laluan sikal (for compound complex word)

then when sdr ramlee wahab wrote about linguistik and lipstik, i came up with this break down

lingui + stik = linguistik
lip + stik = lipstik
chop + stik = chopstik
the + stik<>stig = the stik <> the stig of top gear

based on these break downs, one can see that the free morphemes and roots for the words are 'ba', 'moto', 'lingui', 'lip' and 'chop' and the bound morphemes are 'sikal' and 'stik' or the affix

let's draw the tree, minus branch.. i don't know how to put them in notes, so use our imagination ye..

Noun

root noun affix

ba sikal

Noun

root noun affix

lingui stik

The lexical category for these words is governed by the affix, and not the root. This fulfills the Head Last Principle.

******so kak gayah, kak umm, su'ad - what do you think? acceptable

The idealists and purists of malay language will definitely raise their eyebrow on this! However, my view is that language lives and evolves.. One of these days, my analysis might be acceptable, especially if one is grouped with murdoch... not the billionaire, but the A-Team character....
